Choices

choices

When it comes to food and activities, my children have so many options and choices these days. When I was their age, I accepted whatever was given to me and hardly asked any questions. As you get older, there are many decisions you must make, some tougher and more complex than others. Nevertheless, God gives human beings choices—a free will, to do whatever we want to do. With each choice there are negative and/or positive consequences that follow.

As a Christian, there are many political stances I don’t agree with from the United States liberal and conservative parties. The most basic part of our democracy allows citizens to make choices. Again, God gives mankind the ability to make choices and have a free will.

If we glance at Israel’s introduction into kingship, then we will see God’s ability to allow the people to choose. Israel wanted to be ruled by a physical king and mimic neighboring nations. God desired their trust to be solely in an entity they could not see, but nevertheless a visible king named Saul was appointed, later David was the third king of Israel. These kings were imperfect, yet God gave the people what they wanted. God allowed the people to choose.

I currently am not a fan of America’s Saul and David—they both are horrible candidates. However, one candidate allows the people to choose, while the other candidate does not.

Recently, former #45 President of the USA, cried out to Christians for their support saying,

I love you. You got to get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not going to have to vote.–July 26, 2024

45th President of the USA

On Monday, 29 July in an interview he double down again on his stance and said,

Don’t worry about the future. You have to vote on Nov. 5. After that, you don’t have to worry about voting anymore. I don’t care, because we’re going to fix it. The country will be fixed and we won’t even need your vote anymore, because frankly we will have such love, if you don’t want to vote anymore, that’s OK.

45th President of the USA

It’s hard to believe he could possibly start a dictatorship in this country; especially with all the checks and balances in Congress. However, he has already served as a President in this country, incited violence against his own country, has a radical following waiting to repeat another Jan. 6 coup, he’s been cleared of 34 felonies, casually invites radical racist organizations to his home, and is currently the Republican candidate for this upcoming election. Anything is possible.

#45 is not a wise businessman, he amassed $1 billion of debt before he was sworn in as president during his first term, nevertheless he’s a businessman who knows all the countless loopholes and vulnerabilities of our government. He has and will strategically use weaknesses within our own system to his advantage—such that he becomes a dictator.

With #45 the democracy will crumble. He wants to fix it such that no one would have to vote because he would be the sole dictator. The majority of job vacancies from his last cabinet remained empty—either people quit or were fired by him because he wanted to control everything. Without the ability to make choices, citizens will eventually lose their voice and all hope.

As Christians and even non-believers, it is imperative to put your trust in God. That is what God has wanted since the beginning. Go and vote, but never lose sight of the creator.

He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.

Daniel 2:21

No matter who is in a governmental office, God is still on the throne—eternal and majestic. Presidents fade away, but God is forever. It doesn’t matter of what war arises or how dire famine consumes the earth, my trust will always remain in God.
